Chad Desert DIY/Supported

To go into the Ennedi or Tibesti or other desert destination, one is obliged to have:

1 – Authorization to travel with the Ministry of the Interior with sponsorship. This authorization requires 2 weeks for us to prepare for you before the trip

2 – It is necessary to have the photo copy of the passport and photo copy of visas. (Or for us to arrange your visa on arrival.)

3 – Two photos for mandatory registration with the police.

4 – The authorization is cheaper for a group of more than 6 pax

5 – 4X4 car rental without fuel with a single driver can be arranged as a support car, with a driver guide who knows the area.

6 – English speaking guide and translator is an additional option charged daily.

7 – The driver’s meals are to be borne by the clients during the duration of the mission. It is necessary to count minimum 15/20 euros per day for this.

IMPORTANT: The Ennedi is the door of the desert, and requires huge logistics; In the Ennedi for example there is nothing like trade or stores, and it is necessary to buy all the food in Ndjamena.

Here are the details

There is a complete supported formula for best practices:

A 4×4 car with fuel – driver guide – cook and cook’s equipment – 3 meals (breakfast and lunch and dinner rations) – authorization to travel from the ministry – tourist taxes in the Ennedi massif. Welcome and transfer from airport and hotel. Lastly, to be considered is road costs, phone, and insurance.

For cash and money exchange in Chad, just stick to using the ATM’s on arrival actually or else don’t worry about it right away, and our ground team will make sure you get sorted on arrival. Even without us or anybody’s help, the ATM will give you the google rate for exchange, have no risk of counterfeiting or black market boggles, and is secure and stress-free. So for cash matters in Chad don’t plan on bringing more than a few hundred USD per person, as it is not needed with us in tow nor in the interior of the country where local currency reigns supreme.
